I shot an arrow into the air
It fell to earth, I knew no where;
For so swiftly it flew the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong
That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterwards in an oak
I found the arrow still unbrok',
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

Potenciano V. Gregorio - Composer of Sarung Banggi
When Lolo Poten wrote this immortal song, considered by those close to him as
his masterpiece, he was inspired by a vision which awoke him in reverie of his
dearly beloved. He rose from bed even thought he heard her voice. But no, when
he looked around, he heard the lonely chirping of a bird amid the rustling of
the cacao leaves, fanned by the gentle breeze of a pleasant summer time.
