Agriculture

Sixty-three(63) percent of the total land area r 3,581 ha. are devoted for agricultural lands are planted to commercial crops like coconut, citrus, abaca and fruit bearing trees. The remaining 65.13% is devoted to rice, corn, vegetables and rootcrops.

Mining and Forestry

    Sto. Domingo has no timberland. About 1,400 has. part of Mayon Volcano has been declared as national park in undergoing reforestation activities. At Bosque, Misibis, Cagraray Island, 166 ha. has been declared as communal forest of the Municipality.
    The town has no known deposit of metallic mineral except for sand, gravel and boulders as construction materials. This non-metallic deposits abound at the foot of Mayon Volcano, particularly at Basud River, where the volume is estimated at 23 million cubic meters. Quarrying serves as a source of livelihood for some 74 families nearby the area.


Trade and Commerce

    The primary area of trade and commercial activities is the small municipal market of only 2,551 sq. m. Within the public market are sari-sari stores, general merchandising stores, service shops, vegetable stalls, fish and meat stalls. One hundred ninety business establishments have been granted Mayor's permit to operate and are scattered throughout the town. People involved in this activity constitute only 4.3 percent of the labor force.

Manufacturing and Industry

    The main economic activity of the people in Sto. Domingo is cottage industry, primarily abaca handicraft. About 31.64% of the entire labor force is engaged in some form of handicraft producing a wide array of novelty items.
    There are no big industries in the locality except the Induplex which manufactures perlite, decalite and other filter materials for the domestic and expert market.
